Cheney's 2001 energy task force documents featured maps of Iraqi oilfields
Well, well, well!

No WONDER the VP didn't want the files released:

Vice President Dick 'Chicanery' Cheney's energy task force appeared to have some interest in early 2001 in Iraq's oil industry, including which foreign companies were pursuing business there, according to documents released Friday by a private watchdog group.

The papers were dated early March 2001, about two months before the Cheney energy task force completed and announced its report on the administration's energy needs and future energy agenda.

Judicial Watch, the public interest group that investigates and prosecutes government corruption and abuse, reported yesterday that documents turned over by the Commerce Department, under court order as a result of Judicial Watch’s Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit concerning the activities of the Cheney Energy Task Force, contain maps of Iraqi oilfields, pipelines, refineries and terminals, as well as 2 charts detailing Iraqi oil and gas projects, and “Foreign Suitors for Iraqi Oilfield Contracts.”

Judicial Watch has been seeking these documents since April 19, 2001. It was forced to file a lawsuit in the U.S. District Court when the government failed to comply. U.S. District Court Judge Paul J. Friedman ordered the government to produce the documents on March 5, 2002.
