"He's still the same idiot we had on September 10th"
Farkers comment on the NY comPost's editorial over Bush's use of 9/11 images in his campaign ads:

"How can Bush paint the worst intelligence and security failure in the history of the US, which is his fault, as a positive thing?" - Befuddled

"I would not mind if they used the footage if they in turn did not block the filming of our soldiers coming back from Iraq in caskets." - ocoeesnorthshore

"I think it's perfectly appropriate for bush to exploit 9/11 for his commercials. I mean that's been the story of his entire presidency, why stop now?" - Bad CRC

"Funny - the Bush administration has no problem using 9/11 images for self-serving political gain, but prevents the press from reporting on dead soldiers arriving at Dover because it would be disrespectful. Hypocrits R Us?" - the igorway

"Yeah, it was a defining moment. Bush watched it on TV like everyone else, then flew around hiding. Big hero." - ghare

"Bush can use 9/11 all he wants. I know Bush during 9/11
* Made sure the bin Laden family was safe, even if it meant smuggling them out of the country.
* Made sure the USA would "go it alone" in the world community, fumbling sympathy from around the world into the hatred we see today.
* Lied about WMD, and made the flimsy case that attacking Iraq would make America safer.
* Let bin Laden escape through bungling at Tora Bora.
* Said he was looking for any reason to go to war in Iraq, and that 9/11 gave him that reason.
* Grandstanded needlessly like a cheerleader on the deck of the USS Lincoln, lying that the war was over when it wasn't even close to being.
* More needless grandstanding, the infamous 'bring it on' comment: got Americans shot at for no reason, made America look more stupid overseas. Bush has taken the universal empathy the global community had for the USA and converted it nearly overnight into hatred or diplomatic distance. I see no proof that his approach has worked. Bush frankly deserves to be impeached." - Generation D

"What if the planes didn't crash into the world trade center buildings? Would he be a good president then?" - GreatBunzinni

"I think a letter that was sent to the NY Times sums up Bush's use of 9/11 in his ads quite nicely:

To the Editor:

Re "Bush Ad Campaign Ready to Kick Off an Expensive Effort" (front page, March 4):

It continues to baffle me that the Republican Party insists on reminding the American people over and over again that George W. Bush's administration is responsible for the greatest security failure in the history of the United States.
