Frightening America for political gain
Reports that led to latest terror alert were years old, officials say

Appalling. Most of the information that the White House used to raise the terror alert in New York City, NE NJ and Washington DC was three or four years old, intelligence and law enforcement officials said on Monday. They reported that 'they had not yet found concrete evidence that a terrorist plot or preparatory surveillance operations were under way.'

A Homeland Security advisor admitted yesterday that surveillance reports had been "gathered in 2000 and 2001," adding the info may have been updated as recently as January.

'The comments of government officials on Monday seemed softer in tone than the warning issued' on Sunday, the day most of the polls and pundits would have focused on how well the Democratic Convention went. Honor and integrity, huh. Jebus K. Fuck.
