Six indicted in Alabama militia raids
Unfortunately this story seems destined to be banished to the depths of the blogosphere--you know, because these terrorists don't happen to be brown.
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Five men accused of belonging to a self-styled militia were indicted on federal explosives and weapons charges after raids that uncovered an arsenal of homemade hand grenades and firearms, authorities said.It is true that the vast majority of the right-wing would find the thought of machine-gunning a group of Mexicans as slightly appalling (though many probably wouldn't give it a second thought a few minutes after reading about it--and Coulter would still find a way to make it all good). But there is something to be said about the political culture of the Right that for cheap gains dehumanizes the little brown people of the country (legal or illegal), and in this regard encourages this sort of radicalization.
The men remained in jail Thursday without bail after a federal agent testified this week that they were planning a machine gun attack on Mexicans.
In other words, if your party holds as a basic tenent, as the Right does, that these people are inferior to decent hard workin' 'mericans and represent a dark (literally) threat to traditional values--it shouldn't surprise anyone that shit like this ends up happening. And further, just because no 'mainstream' conservatives expressly advocates murder or other forms of violence as a political solution, doesn't mean their hands can be washed clean of the mess they helped create.

Yeah, JC, and the good old pandering MSM helps our Neo-con 'friends' too... notice the neutral, legalistic language used in the excerpt you printed -- ".. indicted on federal explosives and weapons charges after raids that uncovered an arsenal of homemade hand grenades and firearms, authorities said." Contrast that (and their low-key arrest for actual PHYSICAL preparatory terrorist activity) with the breathless, 24-hr hysteria when some young dumb Arabs just start TALKING/FANTASIZING about a plot (or just unconsciously parrotting something they saw in a movie) --they're quickly jailed and it's wall-to-wall terrorism coverage (until virtually all charges are dropped due to lack of any physical evidence of a plot).
Unfortunately this crude double-standard goes all the way back to America's roots -- the nearly complete genocide/extermination of the native inhabitants followed by the importation of black African slaves.. guess the acorn doesn't fall far from the tree down in 'bama.
And, you know, our DOJ doesn't find it nearly as threatening to the Republic that a bunch of white terrorists were planning to execute a bunch of brown people as they do the notion that those same brown people might actually be able to vote. I mean, priorities, people.
