White House spurns Republican, Iraqi Iraq proposals
The White House rejected on Sunday a proposal by two influential Republican senators that would require [the Dictator-tot] to plan for a possible troop withdrawal from Iraq by the end of the year."Plan for a possible" -- he won't even consider a proposal to plan for a possibility, for crying out loud.
Bush's national security adviser Stephen Hadley also played down comments by Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki that Iraq would be ready to take over security from U.S. forces "any time" they withdrew. Hadley said that is a shared goal but more equipment and training are needed.Really? After all we've done for them? This just in from USA Toady: "Pentagon balked at pleas from officers in field for safer vehicles."
Even as the Pentagon balked at buying MRAPs for U.S. troops, USA TODAY found that the military pushed to buy them for a different fighting force: the Iraqi army.Shit.
On Dec. 22, 2004 — two weeks after President Bush told families of servicemembers that "we're doing everything we possibly can to protect your loved ones" — a U.S. Army general solicited ideas for an armored vehicle for the Iraqis.
The rush to equip the Iraqis stood in stark contrast to the Pentagon's efforts to protect U.S. troops.

It's delusional to even discuss the 'possibility' of Bush & friends voluntarily leaving Iraq. They're obviously just going to play it out (while thousands die) until they're out of office -- they've literally said that, and everything in their political history supports it. The only reason to pay any attention to Cheney/Bush's 'tentative Iraq withdrawl' remarks is as a study in attempted 'stall tactics' -- and they're so simplistic and transparent that it's not even that interesting as a case of deception. Kind of in league with a 3 yr old kid saying "I didn't do it" as he stands in front of his obvious destruction.
