Tony Minns saved two of his friends' lives by jamming his fingers in a leaking esky after his boat sank off Yeppoon on Friday night.

For a while there I thought you were describing a Boy Scout overnight camping trip with Rethuglican scoutmasters... an honest mistake.
esky is a portable icebox thingy. Yeppoon is a town in the state of Queensland, where the local kangaroos like to lounge around the golf course, beating up careless golfers. Go you 'roos!!
