Some restaurants have a magnet that prevents utensils from passing into the food disposal unit or trash compactor. This is not only because it is not good economics for the restaurant to keep losing utensils, but also because the utensil can do major damage to the disposal unit while perhaps becoming a rather dangerous high-speed projectile.Unless that's what they want us to believe...
