Of Marxists, meteors and Muslims

Some idiot at the ironically-named conservatard site newsrealblog makes shit up:

While the rest of the left wing media has gotten bored with the topic and has long since returned to its favorite subject – namely, the cult-like hero-worship directed toward Barack Obama...
What! Why, just this morning they were still discussing the latest bad poll numbers of our racist, old-people-killing President!

Where do they get this shit? And why are they being paid to do it?

RE: the link -
I am always sadly amused when the health care 'privateers' try to scare people with the vague prospect that 'public health care will lead to rationing!', when the private system is ALREADY rationing health care via $$$ - - if you don't have the bucks, you'll be locked out of most preventative care and could end up dying in an emergency waiting room.

The "Obama cult" nonsense might come in part from articles like this, which was published in last week's Economist. Be sure to read the last paragraph; it shows you how stupid some of these people are.

JDsg - Interesting article... a much more subtle form of conservative propaganda, no doubt due to the English origin. But as you rightly pointed out, just as bad, because they're equating a majority of Obama followers to 'cultists'. Hell, I would venture to say that MOST (though obviously not all) people who voted for Obama were PRIMARILY interested in voting for a 'not-Bush-style' candidate. No SERIOUS, informed political follower expected all the things that the Economist exaggeratedly suggests that Obama promised. The few people who DID perhaps believe he might do all these things were undoubtedly casual political observers who BY DEFINITION* can NOT be considered true 'cultists' since they don't follow Obama's (or anyone else's) politics closely.

I also found it amusing that the Economist author criticized the Obama legislative process for 'not offering sufficient time for legislators to even read the bills'
-- as if most legislators read the unabridged versions of bills! They undoubtedly all have their staff members read and evaluate bills and give them a synopsis, after which they may or may not read sections or (once in a great while) the entire bill. I suspect that 1 or 2 weeks is plenty of time for this process - - and a hell of a lot longer than some of the W/Cheney's administration's 'turnaround' time!

* Our friendly AOL dictionary defines 'cult' as: "1.)formal religious veneration : WORSHIP
2.) a system of religious beliefs and ritual; also : its body of adherents". A casual -- though enthusiastic -- follower really does NOT meet this definition of a 'cult' since he/she is NOT aware of the 'system of religious beliefs' of Obama -- they are strictly reacting to political commercials or nebulous political speeches.
