QUOTES
"Rather than initiate a war that would have to be finished by their successors, the Clinton officials properly left the final decision to be made by the new president and his advisers. Unfortunately those hard-charging, tough-talking, bureaucracy-busting executives did little but shuffle paper until it was much too late. No wonder Cheney and Bush have argued so strenuously against an independent investigation of the events leading up to Sept. 11, which they should no longer be allowed to evade." - Smokin' Joe Conason, in Salon.

"Bush pep talk: 'I'll be gone in two years - if not sooner'" - Homercles, in the yahoo message boards.

MOMENTS IN CHURCHILLIANA
I watched Bunnypants' speech to the 'citizens' of the Pennsylvania mining community and the world this morning. Both my repub BF and I were sitting there with our mouths hanging open in confusion and disbelief as he rambled on and on and pointlessly on. We couldn't get over how incoherent he was - even his platitudes and cliches made no sense. The transcipt hasn't been posted yet - maybe they're still trying to figure it out for themselves - but when it is, I'll put up the link.

Meanwhile, here's the Oaf of Office, in front of the miners and their friends and families today, talking about the 'spirit of Amurka': "It's that spirit that's going to...uhhhhhh....prevail in the big challenges we face around the world -- the challenge of making sure that we hunt down every terrorist and bring them to justice."

Oh, by the way, the Yellow Pustule of Texas CUT the budget of the Federal Mine Safety and Health Commission. Not only that, but he's been anti-workplace-safety since he came into office.

And what the hey is a "sammich", mister 'president'??!
