From Obi's speech today in Ohio to the Annual AFL-CIO Labor Day picnic, where he said, "An America where energy reform creates green jobs that can never be outsourced and that finally frees America from the grip of foreign oil."
I'm just wonderin' how exactly does that work? How is it that a job "can NEVER be outsourced"???! NEVER, EVER, EVER, EEEEEVER!!!! How?! Exactly.
Who's going to stop some green job corporation from moving overseas to take advantage of slave labor wages and "no-one-gives-a-shit" working conditions??? If that were even possible, to stop outsourcing, why hasn't anyone done it before now??? How are green jobs the "different thing" that would or could stop that nasty crippling process of shipping overseas the jobs that keep a community thriving?
I don't know but that sounds suspiciously like SMOKE being blown up a buncha asses there, Obi. Nice thought, but who exactly are the NO OUTSOURCING police gonna be and how the hell does that work??? hmmmmmmm?

Off-hand, I can think of on-site jobs, installing energy efficient systems for heating, cooling and power generation. Think of both small-scale (home improvement/construction) and large-scale (wind & solar farms) projects.
I self-employed and run a one man custom cabinet business, ain't no way you ship my job any where, even out of state.
He's talking about creating and maintaining new national sources of energy. The jobs can't be outsourced, because they require proximity to the energy's locations, which would be contained within the United States.
Not everything is a conspiracy, you know.

I agree more with your original assessment, Siri. As long as we have employment policy virtually dictated by corporations/management, there's nothing to ensure that most honest, decent-paying jobs will stay in this country -- OR won't have immigrants imported to depress wages. Electrical energy obviously can be imported from Canada or even Mexico. Immigrants can be brought in to do construction jobs, which was common in Las Vegas during the recent housing bubble. When the ONLY ground-rules are that investors have to be rewarded, there's no good reason to believe that decent paying jobs will be a necessary result, and lots of history to demonstrate otherwise. It's not a conspiracy - - but it IS normal business practice...maximization of profit.
