Douchebag of liberty on hotseat again
But Mr. Novak, in an appearance on "Inside Politics" on CNN and in a subsequent telephone interview, once again refused to answer questions about what contact, if any, he had had with the federal prosecutor conducting the investigation or about what extent he might have cooperated in the case.
Columnist Al Hunt, a colleague of Nokavula's, said the treasonous scumbag could probably shed some light on why Ms. Miller and Mr. Cooper were facing jail on contempt charges, while he, apparently, was not.
"It does beg the question why Matt and Judy, and not Bob," Mr. Hunt said. "It's just so confusing to citizens and people in our business. If Bob could provide some context, I think it would be helpful."
In a related story, Time Inc. said Thursday it would comply with a court order to hand over the notes of White House correspondent Matt Cooper.

Bush's Iraq-terrorism link faces skeptical US public
"The only way our enemies can succeed is if we forget the lessons of September 11." - Bunnypants, 6/28/05. Or if you ignore your National Security advisor's reports entitled Bin Laden determined to strike within the US, then invade a country that wasn't even responsible. Asshat.
"I think it is just unvarnished demagoguery," he said.
In an editorial, the New York Times said "we had hoped he would resist the temptation to raise the bloody flag of 9/11 over and over again to justify a war in a country that had nothing whatsoever to do with the terrorist attacks."
"The president, who is going to be in office for another three and a half years, cannot continue to obsess about self-justification and the need to color Iraq with the memory of 9/11. The nation does not want it and cannot afford it."

Terrorist haven? Since when?
"Bush's speech could widen his credibility gap."
"More than two years ago, Bush argued that Saddam Hussein's control over Iraq could make the nation a haven for terrorists. But in his nationally televised speech, Bush asserted that the tumult that has followed Hussein's removal created the same threat. That argument drew instant scorn from some Democrats, who argued that Bush was defending the continued military operations on the basis of a threat that did not exist before the invasion." - Ron Brownstein, in the Los Angeles Times.
Peter Canellos in the Boston Globe: "In a bold redefinition of a war that began primarily as an attempt to prevent the spread of weapons of mass destruction, President Bush yesterday said Iraq is where the United States will make its stand against terrorists from around the world who flowed into the country after the fall of Saddam Hussein. There was no discussion, however, of how those fighters slipped through borders that US forces failed to secure, or any other flaws in postwar planning."
"Bush was greeted with stony, untelegenic silence by the troops the White House had gathered at Ft. Bragg to serve as his audience. There was only one outburst of applause, apparently provoked by a member of Bush's own advance team." - Dan Froomkin, the WaComPo.
"NBC's Kelly O'Donnell, reporting from Fort Bragg, said afterward that the applause appeared to have been 'triggered by members of the president's advance team' and that once they began clapping, the soldiers joined in."
The Washington Post: "Mr. Bush didn't explain how a war meant to remove a tyrant believed to wield weapons of mass destruction turned into a fight against Muslim militants, a transformation caused in part by his administration's many errors since Saddam Hussein's defeat more than two years ago.
The Los Angeles Times: "President Bush's pep talk to the nation Tuesday night was a major disappointment. He again rewrote history by lumping together the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, and the need for war in Iraq, when, in fact, Saddam Hussein's Iraq had no connection to Al Qaeda. Bush spoke of 'difficult and dangerous' work in Iraq that produces 'images of violence and bloodshed,' but he glossed over the reality of how bad the situation is.
The Baltimore Sun: "Mr. Bush addressed the nation last night in an attempt to rally support for his policy on Iraq, and instead it became disturbingly clear that the events of the past two years have barely made an impression on him.

hite House advance team FAKED the applause
AmericaBlog reports: "ABC's Terry Moran just reported that the only time Bush got applause was in the middle of his speech when a White House advance team member started clapping all on their own in order to cajole the soldiers into clapping, which they dutifully did."

Bush criticized for linking 9/11 and Iraq
Congressional Democrats said Preznit WarMonkey's repeated attempts last night to link the war in Iraq to the September 11 terrorist attacks rang hollow and did not constitute the plan to win the war that they said Bush needed to deliver.
The Snivelling Ninny mentioned the attacks five times during the 28-minute address Tuesday night, when he was supposed to be talking about solving the roiling, deadly fiasco in Iraq.
"The president's numerous references to September 11 did not provide a way forward in Iraq," Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid said. "They only served to remind the American people that our most dangerous enemy, namely Osama bin Laden, is still on the loose and al-Qaida remains capable of doing this nation great harm nearly four years after it attacked America."
Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean slammed Bush for failing "to show the same courage our troops and their families show every day."
"Facing an historic opportunity for leadership, George Bush turned to the darkness of divisiveness, attempting to garner support for his failed policies by pandering to fear, rather than inspiring us with a plan for hope," Dean said.
"I think the president was giving them same old, same old," Independent pollster John Zogby said.

Hard work spreadin' freedom.
ar Preznit's clear strategery to end the Iraq war
Continue to politicize September 11thBloodshed in Iraq is 'worth it,' says war deserter:
"We fight today because terrorists want to attack our country and kill our citizens, and Iraq is where they are making their stand.* So we will fight them there, we will fight them across the world and we will stay in the fight until the fight is won."Following the party line, disgraced republican towelboy John McCain defended the Squinting Chimp, telling Larry King that those spreading violence in Iraq "are the same guys who would be in New York if we don't win in Iraq."
House Speaker Denny "yes, Mr DeLay" Hastert chimed in: "If there is any doubt why we are in Iraq, one must only remember the events of September 11, when the terrorists attacked our nation. We took the war to the terrorists, rather than waiting for them to attack again. It was the right thing to do."
*Note: the CIA said a week or so ago that though there were no ties between Iraq and Al Qaeda before the war, Iraq is now the number one training ground for Al Qaeda worldwide. Yep. Iraq is now "a central front in the war on terror" because Bush, in invading and occupying the country, opened it wide open for America-hating terrorists.
Oh, Bush's "clear strategy"? We're stayin' the course.

From own vice president, Secretary of Defense, generals on the ground, fellow republicans, facts.
The Iraqi insurgency is in its "last throes." - Dick 'dick' Cheney, 30 May 05.
Though Cheney spokesman Steve Schmidt said the vice president thought the controversy was mostly partisan politics, other administration officials and Republican elders, who spoke anonymously because they feared retribution from the White House, said the vice president had blundered.
"This is like the aircraft carrier," said former Reagan aide Michael Deaver, referring to Bush's infamously stupid "Mission Accomplished" stunt from the deck of the Abraham Lincoln in 2003. "God, what a boner THAT turned out to be."
