'Tom Delay political deathwatch'
The liberal media, as part of their continued witch hunt, went back in time and forced Tom DeLay to charge trip expenses to a lobbyist's credit card in violation of ethics rules.
- headline at Fark.

Tom DeLay's 2000 trip to London and Scotland - including golfing at Scotland's prestigious St. Andrews course - was charged to a credit card issued to DeLay's pet lobbyist and golf partner Jack Abramoff.

Multiple sources, including DeLay's then-chief of staff Susan Hirschmann, have confirmed that DeLay's congressional office was in direct contact with Preston Gates - Abramoff's lobbying firm - about the trip itinerary before DeLay's departure, to work out details of his travel.

These contacts raise questions about DeLay's statement that he had no way of knowing about the financial and logistical support provided by Abramoff and his firm.

"The time has come that the American people know exactly what their Representatives are doing here in Washington. Are they feeding at the public trough, taking lobbyist-paid vacations, getting wined and dined by special interest groups? Or are they working hard to represent their constituents? The people, the American people, have a right to know... I say the best disinfectant is full disclosure, not isolation." - Tom DeLay, 1995.
