Quote of the day
Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee: “If Republicans in this election vote in such a way as to say a candidate’s personal life and personal conduct in office doesn’t matter, then a lot of Christian evangelical leaders owe Bill Clinton a public apology.”

Ooops! Mr Huckabee accidentally did it again - - attributing a sense of consistent moral truth to the STATEMENTS of Republican & their evangelical supporters. Down that path lies confusion, inconsistentcy, staggering hypocrisy and irreconcialable internal conflicts -- IF you rely on their STATEMENTS. If you look at their ACTIONS, most of that is resolved. They quickly emerge as mere financial opportunists and little more. If it's financially advantageous to Republicans for us be in Iraq because of the oil, Republicans will have us there year-after-year, body-bag-after-body-bag, with a lot of attendant concern about 'democracy' or 'stopping terrorism/Communism', etc. Whereas if we're in Somalia or Lebanon and a relatively small amount of military casualties occur - - BUT there's NO foreseeable financial opportunities (deemed 'national interests')for the US, then we're quickly gone without any of this 'cut-and-run' nonsense.
